The Marion softball season ended Monday with a 10-0 loss to Southeast of Saline in the first round of the Class 3A regional hosted by Southeast.
Marion, seeded sixth coming into the tournament, fell behind 3-0 in the first inning, but stayed in contention until the No 3-seeded Trojans began to break through in the fourth inning.
Southeast scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, then took control with four more runs in the fifth inning for a 9-0 lead.
When the Trojans scored their 10th run in the bottom of the sixth, the game ended by run rule.
The loss completed Marion?s season with a 6-15 record.
South?east of Saline improved to 10-9 and are set up to play No. 1 seeded Hillsboro in the tournament semifinals at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
