The Marion cross country team hosted a meet Tuesday.
?The weather was wonderful, and it was a fantastic afternoon,? coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Marion cross country team. I loved seeing everyone out there.
?As a team, we ran very well. We came away with six new PRs. As a team, we also earned nine medals. The runners who didn?t PR or medal still ran great races, and I hope to see us all continue to improve.?
Colin Williams was the first Warrior to cross the finish line in the boys? varsity race, completing the 5-k course in 19 minutes, 23.19 seconds, good for fourth place.
Tyler Arocha also medalled, finishing 14th in a personal-best 20:07.48.
Jarrett Johnson turned in a personal-best performance, placing 30th in 21:01.05. Ethan Darnall was 37th (21:26.69), Magnus Maarslet 54th (22:35.49), Logan Waner 63rd (23:04.00) and Joeb Corona 75th (25:04.18). Devin Hamm finished 25th in the junior varsity race (28:25.65).
Meanwhile, McKenzee Remmers led the Warrior girls by finishing fifth in 22:54.65. Meggan Frese also medaled with an 11th-place finish in a personal-best 24:10.75. In the junior varsity race, AJ Arterburn was fifth in a personal-best 28:47.74; Shyla Harris 13th (32:43.28), Sam Fugitt 15th in a personal-best 34:54.73, and Brittany Hett 17th (35:42.16).
In the middle school races, Bethany Grimmett finished fourth (15:56.05) and David Sawyer seventh (7:34.25).
