MHS garners six medals at Halstead

With nine wrestlers selected from its varsity squad, the Marion Warriors placed third among 21 teams competing at the 33rd annual Halstead Wrestling Invitational.

Six of the nine Marion entrants placed in the top five in their weight class, with Dillon Wildin coming away with second place at 135 pounds. Lincoln senior Tommy Knapp won the weight class.

Charlie Holub beat Hillsboro?s Tyler Jones to take third among the 145-pounders. Cody Wildin defeated SE of Saline junior Zach Short to claim third place at 125 pounds.

Andy Shipman placed fourth at 119 pounds. Derek Riggs took fifth in the 215 pound class, and Adam Regnier took fifth at 130.

Regnier improved his season mark to a team-best 16-3.

Marion?s other entrants were Tylor Neil (140), Hank Collett (152) and Hector Cardenas (160).

Coming?Marion will compete at a tournament starting at 9 a.m Saturday in Eureka.
