The Marion volleyball team clinched the regular-season Heart of America league title by sweeping Ell-Saline and Berean Academy at Inman Tuesday.

The Warriors defeated Ell-Saline, 2-0.

Marion won Set 1, 25-21, and followed with a victory by that same margin in Set 2, polishing the win with a Shelby Felvus kill.

?The Warriors then faced Berean Academy and won, 2-0.? Marion won Set 1, 25-14. Marion built a 20-11 cushion with an 8-0 run and later concluded the set with four consecutive points.?

Marion concluded the evening with a 25-11 win in Set 2. Marion enjoyed a 13-1 run early for a 15-4 advantage. Coach Brea Campbell began sending in substitutions, and Marion cruised to the finish, ending the set with a Kourtney Hansen kill followed by an ace serve by Kirsten Hansen.

Campbell said her team?s energy that fueled the Warriors? success.

?Everything just kind of follows the energy,? she said. ?If we don’t bring the energy to the court, our hits aren?t going to go in like we want them to. Nothing?s going to work like we want it to, so I told them, ?Fake energy is energy, so either way you have to bring it.? They did it, and everything clicked.

?We’ve kind of actually been in a rut a little bit for energy, and we had a long talk yesterday about what we needed to do, and they brought it,? Campbell said. ?I’m so proud of them for that because we really needed to put these two wins down, get them out of the way so we could move on, and they did exactly like that.?
