The Marion wrestling team placed second as a team at the Chase County Invitational Saturday, after going 1-2 at the Smoky Valley Double Dual Thursday.
Three Warriors claimed first place at the Chase County tournament.
Brody Carroll continued his hunt for a top finish at state by winning the 138-pound weight class. Colten Johnson took first at 160 pounds and Evan Slater claimed first at 220 pounds.
Eric Regnier took second at 120 pounds and teammate Adam Janzen placed second at 160.
Brayden Putter placed third at 132 pounds and Kyle Palic came in third at 170.
Nathan Cyr placed fourth at 195 pounds.
?We wrestled well this weekend,? coach Chad Adkins said. ?The kids were aggressive and working good offense.
?The 160-pound weight class was exciting because we brought both of our kids and they wrestled each other in the finals. Adam Janzen wrestled really well to get into the finals.?
Marion started the day at Smoky Valley with a 51-24 loss to Hoisington, then lost to the hot team, 47-21. They finished the day with a 59-0 win over Hillsboro.
?Evan Slater beat the fourth-ranked wrestler from Hoising?ton,? Adkins said. ?We wrestled OK.?
Coming?The Warriors are scheduled to compete at regionals Friday and Saturday.
