MHS?cross country competes at Halstead

Marion?s cross-country team competed at Halstead on a windy Thursday.

?As you can see from our times, it was not the best meet for us,? coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?I?could blame the wind, the sickness being passed around, the course possibly being too long, not the right practices to prepare us, or many other things. However, the truth of the matter is that we just didn?t have a good meet today.

?Everyone?s times were slower. However, I still appreciate the positive attitudes and determination to run against the wind that I saw today.?

Timothy Knolla paced the boys, finishing the 5-kilometer course 18th with a time of 20 minutes, 21 seconds.

Jared Hague was 22nd (20:32), Quinton Hett 41st (22:55), Taylor Fahey 60th (23:53) and Seth Savage 61st (24:05).

McKenzee Remmers was the Warriors? sole runner in the varsity girls? race. She finished 25th (19:34).

In the junior varsity race, Kaylie Waner placed sixth (22:17), Shyla Harris seventh (22:12) and Brittany Hett was 14th (23:23).

?We saw tough competition, and now we know that we still have lots of work to do before regionals get here,? Hofer said.

Coming? The Warriors were scheduled to run at Eureka Tuesday and will host the Heart of America League meet Oct. 17.
