Marion?softball improves to 2-2



The Marion softball team swept two games against Moundridge Friday night.

The Warriors won, 6-5, in Game 1.

The game was tied, 2-2, after three innings, but the Wildcats outscored Marion 3-1 in the fourth inning to claim a 5-3 lead.

It was the Wildcats? last score, however, as Marion added one run in the fifth inning and two in the seventh to win by one in the end.

Kroupa knocked out four hits for the Warriors, and Montanna Percell had one.

Richmond, Kroupa and Robson each had one RBI.

On the mound, Richmond pitched all seven innings and threw 19 first pitch strikes. She struck out six batters.

In Game 2, a big first inning in which the Warriors scored seven runs put Marion in control from the start on its way to a 10-6 victory.

Moundridge got on the board with two runs in the top of the third inning, but Marion countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.

The fifth inning saw both teams add one run, and Moundridge rallied with three runs in the seventh inning, but Marion held on for the four-point victory.

Megan Richmond (three RBIs) and Bailey Robson each knocked out two hits for Marion, and Kayla Kroupa contributed two RBIs.

On the mound, Kroupa pitched all seven innings, throwing 19 first pitch strikes and striking out three hitters.

Coming?The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Canton-Galva Tuesday and will travel to Clay Center Friday for a 4:30 p.m. start.
