Marion wrestling team fourth at Mission Valley

The Marion wrestling team got off to a strong start to the season by finishing fourth among 19 teams Saturday at the Mission Valley Invitational.

The Warriors scored 118.50 points as a team, with all six competitors placing in the top four.

?We wrestled very well for our first tournament,? said coach Chad Atkins. ?We will continue to work on our conditioning and add new pieces of our offense every day.?

Brody Carroll went 3-0 to win his weight class. Colten Johnson went 4-0 to start his senior season with a gold medal in his weight class.

Eric Regnier went 2-1 to finish in second, Evan Slater went 3-1 to earn third and Cole Lewman went 2-2 for fourth place at their respective weights.

For the junior varsity, Kyle Palic and Zac Lewman both earned firsts at the Emporia meet Saturday. Derrick Dvorak and Miller Hendrix each placed second, Nathan Cyr placed third and Quinton Hett placed fourth.

Coming?The Warriors will paricipate in the Hesston Invitational Saturday. Matches begin at 9 a.m.
