Marion wrestlers second at Onaga

The Marion wrestling team placed second at the Onaga Duals Friday by winning four of its five duals.

Marion defeated Perry LeCompton (46-36), Onaga (48-22), Rock Creek (68-6) and Pleasant Ridge (51-21), but lost to Burlington (35-30).

?They all wrestled well,? coach Chad Adkins said. ?The highlight would be how much better we?ve gotten against Burlington. That was a fun dual to wrestle in. It was just back and forth, and we were in it the whole time.?

Nine of Marion?s 12 wrestlers earned top-three finishes.

Three Warriors finished first in their respective weight classes with 5-0 records: Jarrett Johnson (126 pounds), Remington Putter (160) and Tyler Palic (195).

Three Warriors went 4-1 to finish second:?Bryce Shults (138), Noah Albin (145) and Charlie Nordquist (182).

Three Warriors placed third with 3-2 records:?Ezra Darnall (132), Jared Rahe (152) and Garrett Hoffner (170).

Ethan Darnall (120), Ryan Cochran (220) and Jarrett McLinden (285) went 2-3.

In junior varsity action, Brock Mitchell and Braydin Sippel each went 0-1.

Coming?Marion will wrestle at Chase County Saturday. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
