Marion wrestlers fourth at Eureka Invite

The Marion wrestling team placed fourth among 21 teams at the Eureka Invitational Saturday with 144 points.

?We had a very successful weekend at Eureka,??coach Chad Adkins said. ?The top four places were all within 10 points.?

Adam Janzen paved the way for the Warriors by winning the 170-pound weight class.

After Janzen?s first opponent forfeited, Janzen pinned Central of Burden?s Michael Delaney and went on to win by major decision, 17-4, over Fredonia?s Tommy Finley.

That pitted Janzen against West Elk?s Paxton Noll in the championship.

Janzen defeated Noll by an 11-5 decision.

Six additional Warriors placed in the top six in their respective weight classes.

Jarrett Johnson (106) and Bryce Shults (120) placed second, and Kyle Palic finished third (220).

Remington Putter (145) and John Nordquist (195) took fourth, and Noah Albin placed sixth (113).

?We wrestled very well,??Adkins said. ?Adam Janzen was dominant, and we are all moving in the right direction.?

Coming?Marion will compete at the Hoisington Tournament Friday. Matches begin at 3 p.m. The junior varsity team will compete at Marion Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
