Marion Track shows well at meet

The Marion track and field team competed at the Smoky Valley Invitational Friday.

Anne Baliel paved the way for the girls’ team by placing second in the pole vault (10-0). Michaela Regnier was third in that event (8-6).

Heidi Grimmett placed third in the 1600 (5:40.12) and anchored the third-place 4×400 relay with Baliel, Maria Stuchlik and Abigail Stuchlik (4:31.64).

Baliel was fourth in the 200 (28.63).

Additional top 10 finishers were: Drew Helmer, sixth in the discus (95-9), Emmy Hess, sixth in the long jump (15-5 ¼) and Alfwenna Meyer, Baliel, Abigail Stuchlik and Regnier, seventh in the 4×100 (57.83).

Meanwhile, Noah Dalrymple paved the way for the Warrior boys, earning the silver medal in the high jump (6-2).

Charlie Nordquist was fifth in the shot put (42-0 ½), and Campbell Winter was fifth in the pole vault (9-6).

Marion—Marion hosted a CKTL meet Tuesday.

The Warrior girls earned two gold medals. Michaela Regnier won the pole vault (8-4), and Bethany Grimmett won the 3200 (19:14.4). Grimmett also placed third in the 1600 (7:51.9).

Amy Packham placed third in both the long jump (12-7) and the high jump (4-2), while Gracie Mackey earned the bronze medal in the pole vault (6-4).

Mackey, Packham, Brook Harford and Hannah May placed third in the 4×100 relay (1:02.4).

Meanwhile, Todd Palic earned the boys’ only gold medal by winning the javelin (136-1).

Colton Boudreaux finished third in the 3200 (12:19.6).

Coming—Marion was scheduled to compete at Hillsboro Tuesday and will travel to Halstead Thursday.
