Marion players, coach, represent at All-Star Game

Suzi CarlsonTwo players and one coach represented Marion’s Class 2-1A state runners-up baseball team in the 2019 Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches All-Star Game Wednesday at Hoglund Ballpark on the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Sam Zinn, the 2-1A Pitcher of the Year, and Evann Heidebrecht, also a first team, all-state selection, were members of the Blue Team, which earned a 7-2 victory over the Red Team.

Meanwhile, Marion coach Roger Schroeder, the Class 2-1A Coach of the Year, was one of three coaches to lead the Blue team to victory.

Heidebrecht was 1-for-2 at-bat and had four putouts in three innings on defense.

Zinn had two putouts and one assist in two innings at second base. He pitched a hitless and scoreless fourth inning, recording no walks and striking out two.
