The Marion cross-country team competed on its home course at the Marion Country Club Tuesday and earned two medals.
Heidi Grimmett claimed the second place medal in the girls’ 5-k with a time of 22 minutes, 56.6. Bethany Grimmett was 35th (37:33.5).
“Heidi ran well tonight,” coach Grant Thierolf said. “We have done a lot of racing in the past two weeks, and we need some practice time to get her ready for the end of the year.”
Meanwhile, Colton Boudreaux earned the 14th-place medal in the boys’ race with a time of 20:59.3. Braxton Schuh was 40th (25:05.6).
“Colton had a good run in the boys’ race, getting back on the medal stand with a 14th-place finish,” Thierolf said. “He is also in need of some good practice days, and we will get them this week.
“Bethany and Braxton ran solid races and will get better with a little rest and some more work.”
Coming—Marion will run at the Halstead Invitational at the Wedgewood Golf Course Thursday.
