Marion ends season in sub-state semi-finals

The Marion High School volleyball team made it to the semi-final round of the 3A sub-state tournament at Council Grove, beating Lyons, 25-20, 25-22, then falling to eventual sub-state runner-up Burlington, 14-25, 15-25.

Hillsboro won the tournament, beating Burlington, 25-15, 22-25, 25-14.

In Marion?s opening round win, Whitney Gordon had nine kills, five serve aces and 11 defensive digs. Chassidy Carlson had 15 set assists. Katey Ehrlich had eight set assists.

Against Burlington, Gordon had six kills and Carlson had four.

Marion finished the season 15-20 overall, 3-6 in the Heart of America league.
