Marion cross country third, eighth at Hesston

The Marion High School boys? and girls? cross-country teams placed third and eighth, respectively, at the Hesston Invitational on Thursday.

The boys were led by Ryan Jones (fourth, 17:44), with Jordan Hett (first, 18:08), Brandon Meierhoff (16th, 20:39), Patrick McCarty (ninth 21:04) and Jacob Cope (11th, 21:11) figuring into the scoring.

The girls? team was led by Monica Spachek (fourth, 17:47), with Jaclyn DeForest (sixth, 18:02) and Elizabeth Goentzel (14th, 18:52) scoring.

?The girls? team improved their team placing by eight spots from last year despite four of our runners not running,? coach Bethany Carlson said.

Marion runs at Peabody next week.
