Marion boys lose to Belle Plaine

The Marion boys’ basketball team lost to Belle Plaine Friday, 62-58.

The Dragons built a 21-17 lead in a high-scoring first quarter, but Marion responded by outscoring Belle Plaine, 17-10 in the second quarter to enjoy a 34-31 lead at halftime.

A big third quarter effort by the Dragons, however, put Belle Plaine in front, 52-46, by the end of the period, and although the Warriors outscored Belle Plaine, 12-10, in the fourth quarter, the deficit was too large to overcome.

Sam Zinn led the Warrior scoring effort with 21 points. Eli Hett and Chase Stringer each scored 10.

Coming—Marion (4-2) was scheduled to open league play by hosting Moundridge Tuesday. The Warriors will return to action Jan. 4 by hosting second-ranked Inman.
