Lundy leads MHS golf at Sacred Heart

The Marion golf team placed seventh at the Sacred Heart Invitational in Salina Friday with a score of 402.

Trinity Catholic won the invitational with a score of 350.

Wiley Lundy led the way for the Warriors with an 18-hole score of 92 for 12th place.

Also competing were Hogan Lovelady (99), Dylan Goebel (105), Jared Hague (106) and Brant Stephenson (120).

?If you harbor the philosophy that peaking early in the golf season is not a good idea, then I would say we are right on schedule,? coach Thane Schwartz said, adding that the below-freezing temperatures at tee-off contributed to some stiff and awkward swings.

The team did not compete at Emporia Municipal Tuesday as mentioned last week.

Coming?The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Council Grove Monday. The next varsity competition will be April 30 when Marion hosts an invitational beginning at 3 p.m.

In between, the junior varsity will compete at Marion (April 16), Hesston (April 18) and Goessel (April 26
