Kaufman cleared to workout

Recent Hillsboro High School graduate and Kansas State University freshman Dakota Kaufman has been cleared to workout with the Wildcat volleyball team by her doctor, she told Sports Brunch Wednesday.

Kaufman participated at the state track meet with a fractured middle toe. She placed fourth in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump.

Kaufman is in Manhattan taking summer classes and working out with the volleyball team.

So far the transition has provided some new challenges, including the differences between high school and college workouts.

?They?re very intense,? said Kaufman. ?The lifting workouts are very intense and to the point. They?re only about 45 minutes to an hour, but you do a lot of stuff.?

Kaufman will begin classes full-time in the fall and the volleyball season starts Aug 27 against UCLA in Hawaii.
