HWC kids compete in districts

The Hillsboro Wrestling Club had 14 wrestlers participating Saturday, in the District III, East Sub-District Tournament at Rock Creek High School.

The top four finishers in each bracket qualified to participate this Saturday, March 17 in the District III Championship Tournament at McPherson. The top four finishers at the district tournament will qualify for the USA Wrestling Kansas Kids State Championship Tourna?ment March 24-25 at the Expocenter in Topeka.

Following are the results from the tournament at Rock Creek, by age division:

? 8 & under: Daniel Gomez, 43 lbs., fourth; Garrett Helmer, 58 lbs., 2-3, sixth; Tristan Rathbone, 64 lbs., 4-2, fifth;

? 10 & under: Jordan Bach?man, 70 lbs., fourth; Raymond Johnston, 76 lbs., did not place; Devin Gomez, 76 lbs., second;

? 12 & under: Tyson Reimer, 130 lbs., third; Dawson Jost, 140 lbs., did not place; Nathan Simhiser, 165 lbs, second;

? 14 & under: Travis King, 95 lbs., second; Brook Bradford, 110 lbs., third; Jesse Meier, 150 lbs., first;

? High school: Cody Delk, 152 lbs., fourth; Matt Reeh, 285 lbs., first.

Four HWC members will be competing this Saturday at McPherson in the 6 & under District Championship Tourna?ment. They are Carson Batter?ton, Tyler Ayers, Camden Padgett and Connor Padgett.

Serving as HWC coaches throughout the season and for this series of qualifying tournaments are Scott O?Hare, Sergio Gomez, Todd Helmer and Brandon Cummings.
