HMS wrestlers wrap up season with final quad

Hillsboro Middle School wrestlers finished their season Thursday night competing against Marion, Reno Valley and Lyons.

Eighth-grader Levi Mendoza and seventh-grader Travis King won all three of their matches.

?Levi was able to win by pin in all three of his matches, while Travis won all three by decision,? coach Jake Shenk said.

Winning at least one match for HMS were eighth-graders Zach Ghahremanzadeh, Stephen Brazil, Mary Leihy and Franklin Jost, and seventh-grader Nathan Simhiser.

?I really enjoyed the time with these kids this season,? Shenk said. ?I am also extremely impressed with the development and leadership of our eighth-graders this year. They came into practice each day to get better and they also were great leaders for the younger guys.

?I really hope they all stick with wrestling in high school because they do have some talent and potential that can be developed in the upcoming years.

?I am really excited about next year and believe we have a great group of seventh-graders coming back that can be really good wrestlers,? he said.
