Hillsboro travels to Salina for golf tournament

The Hillsboro High School participated in the Sacred Heart Invitational Golf Tournament on Friday. It was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed due to weather conditions. Only three golfers competed.

Avery Unruh shot a 90 and placed 12th. He was one stroke out of the top 10. He improved by 14 strokes from his first tournament of the season.

Eli Dalke shot a 116 which was 11 strokes better than his previous score at Herington.

Frank Wichert carded a 121 which was also an improvement of 13 strokes better than his round at Herington.

“All three of them showed significant improvement from their previous tournament round. I am hopeful that the trend will continue as they gain more competition experience,” said Coach Scott O’Hare. “It is unrealistic to believe that the amount of improvement will continue in terms of stroke totals, but I do believe this group has the ability to improve tremendously in short time.”

Coming – Golf had another tournament on Monday at Sterling. They will play next at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at Wedgewood Golf Course.
