Hillsboro Track places well at Elyria

The Hillsboro High School track team participated in the Elyria track meet in Hillsboro on Tuesday. The boys placed first out of six teams while the girls placed fifth.

Kinsey Kleiner took second in the girls long jump with a distance of 14-10.00. Sammie Saunders took fourth with a distance of 14-04.50. And Addie Berens took sixth at 13-07.50. Saunders took third in the girl’s triple jump.

Berens set a new record when she took first in girls javelin throw with a distance of 125-00.

Kleiner ran a time of 14.27 in the girls 100 meter dash and got third.

Berens took second in the 300 meter hurdles and Sammie Saunders took third.

For the boys, Wes Shaw took first in the shot put with a distance of 62-04.00. Jared Janzen was second at 46-09.00. Shaw also took first in discus throw at 171-05. Lane Flaming came in third at 117-08 and Janzen came in fourth at 115-11.

Carson Linnens came in first for high jump at 5-04.00 and first for triple jump at 39-09.50. Jamari Harris took first in long jump at 18-11.00.

Cole Kaufman came in first in javelin at 123-00. Nate Hein came in first for pole vault.

Hein took second for boys 100 meter dash with a time of 12.46 and Harris took third at 12.51.

“Again, we had some really good performances at the Meet on Tuesday including two new records. Wes Shaw improved his Shot Put Record and Addie Berens set a new girls Javelin record,” said Coach Dennis Boldt.
