HILLSBORO- In what was a lopsided match-up, the visiting Pratt Greenbacks swept the Hillsboro Softball team, 7-2 and 21-7 in their opening double-dip.
In the first game, other than an error in the third inning Hillsboro kept Pratt off the bags, but the Greenbacks got their bats going in the sixth inning and Hillsboro was quickly down 3-1.
The Trojans answered with a Trinity Malms double, but there wasn’t much offense after that.
“We showed some really good things that game, but we have to get our bats going and settle down and play our game,” Hillsboro Head Coach Kalee Cross said.
In the second game, the Trojans allowed six runs in the first two innings. The fourth inning brought another seven runs for Pratt.
“We just lost it mentally,” Cross said. “We were messy and struggled getting that third out. It was good to play and see where our strengths are and what needs to be improved on.”
Hillsboro won’t play at all this week, so Cross said she hopes the weather will cooperate and the Trojans can get plenty of good practice time in.
Coming – The Trojans play at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at Smoky Valley.
