After a hot, windy and humid meet at SE of Saline on Tuesday, September 18, the XC team fought back in cooler temperatures all racing a personal best time.

“Times are typically slower when it’s that warm, so I encouraged the team to think of the SE of Saline race as a training run for Berean,” says Coach Panzer. “It worked and they all improved!”

Levi Allen started the day off soaring to a first place finish in a time of 5:55 for the 1 mile race for 7th grade. He remains undefeated this season.

Moriah Jost took 3rd with a time of 15:01 closely followed by teammate Ainsley Duell, 4th with a time of 15:35 and Karley Loewen with a time of 17:12, good for 7th in the 8th grade girls 2 mile division. Josh Diener ran 17:16 and has been consistent putting up times 7 mintues faster than his last year 2 mile PR for the 8th grade boys.

For varsity girls, freshman Emeryson Funk ran a 22:59, beating Abby Driggers school record of 23:43 that was set in 2015. Millie Sechrist ran 2 minutes faster at 28:02 than her previous races.

Varsity boys ended the day with Caleb Diener taking fourth overall with a new PR of 17:53. Carson Linnens joined the team 3 weeks into the season and went from a 28 minute 5K to a 22:08. Senior leader Tucker Moss is close to his 19 minute goal hitting a 20:56. Jason Latham (24:52) and Orin Blecha (25:37) also logged faster times rounding out the team.

Next up the team will compete at Sterling on October 4th.
