Hillsboro, Marion to host MAYB tourney games

Basketball courts in Hillsboro and Marion will be used this weekend for Mid-America Youth Basketball?s 19th annual Summer Kickoff Tournament.

More than 550 youth teams from across the country will compete, with more than 6,000 athletes and 14,000 spectators attending.

Teams from 16 states will travel to 75 courts in south central Kansas, including Hutchinson, Newton and Hillsboro/Marion areas for one of the largest youth basketball tournaments in the country.

The MAYB Summer Kickoff tournament originated 1993 with 60 teams. Teams are now grouped into pools by skill level, allowing them to play similar competition.
