Hillsboro kids? wrestling tourney draws 200 participants from area

The annual Hillsboro Take?down Tournament drew 200 wrestlers between the ages of 6 and under through 14 years to Robert C. Brown Gymnasium Saturday. The youngsters represented 19 wrestling clubs from around the state, including 21 from the Hillsboro club and 18 from the Marion club. Each wrestler competed in pools of three or four competitors. ?The day went very well and the tournament ran very smoothly,? said Scott O?Hare, director. ?I was unable to watch many matches throughout the day due to things that needed done to keep the tournament going smoothly, but in visiting with our coaches and seeing the results, the Hillsboro wrestlers competed hard and had a pretty successful day.? Hillsboro Kids Wrestling Club 6 & under: Logan Frantz 1-2, third; Damiel Gomez 0-2, third; Chance Schultz 1-2, third; Garrett Helmer 3-0, first; Jacob Thiessen 0-3, fourth; Camden Padgett 1-1, second; Tristan Rathbone 3-0, first; Connor Padgett 0-2, third. 8 & under: Levi Buckridge 3-0, first; Raymond Johnston, 1-2, third; Devon Gomez 3-0, first; Landon Roberts 2-1, second; Cade Alleven 0-2, third. 10 & under: Tori Shults 1-2, third; Kolton Harms 0-2, third; Dawson Jost 2-1, second. 12 & under: Travis King 1-2, third; Brice Schults 1-2, third; Chandler Andrews 0-3, fourth; Tyson Reimer 0-2, third; Nathan Simhiser 1-1, second.
