The Hillsboro High School golf team finally got their day at state last week after several reschedules due to weather. While Hillsboro came in last out of 11 teams, they still consider their day a success.

“Although their scores at the state tournament were not quite what they were hoping for, the experience, and hopefully lessons learned, were invaluable. This group, and the rest of the team, have been a joy to work with this year. They were all very coachable and worked hard at learning and improving at the game,” said Coach Scott O’Hare.

Avery Unruh scored the lowest of all the team members coming in at 40th place with a score of 96.

“We will certainly miss Avery, the lone graduated senior, as he was an amazing and selfless teammate for this young group,” said O’Hare.

Rylie Daniels had a score of 117. Frank Wichert scored a 132 with Eli Dalke right behind him at 135. All three are freshmen.

“I am excited for the rest of this young team that will be returning over the next several years. I can not wait to see their progress and hopefully help them to achieve future opportunities to compete at this level again,” said O’Hare.
