Hillsboro girls fall to Southeast of Saline

HILLSBORO- If you throw out the second quarter the Hillsboro Girls Basketball team was in a tightly contested battle with Southeast of Saline, but the Trojans of Saline County opened up a 17-7 run in that quarter and Hillsboro lost a tough game, 42-31.

In the three other quarters, Hillsboro was within one point of Southeast of Saline.

“Southeast of Saline was a very well rounded team. They had good guard play and post play. Once again, I felt like we played well for a large portion of the game. The last four minutes of the second quarter really hurt. This was the time we got down by 12 points. I was very proud of how our girls executed and defended the second half, we had multiple opportunities, but were not able to capitalize several times. We have to do a better job scoring. We got several good looks, both inside and out, but we didn’t even shoot 30 percent for the game. When you play a good team, it is going to be difficult to win without scoring more,” said Coach Nathan Hiebert.

Teegan Werth led Hillsboro with 12 points and three assists for the game and was the only Hillsboro player in double figures scoring for the game.
