Hillsboro girls drop two in Central Kansas League games

In what turned out to be a tough week, the Hillsboro Girls Basketball team lost to Halstead, 52-17, and Larned, 51-37, in last week’s games.

Against Halstead, the Trojans scored just three points in the first half and struggled to get on track in the second. Halstead was just too much for the young Hillsboro team throughout the whole game.

“Halstead is a very solid team. We came out passive and struggled to start well again. We also gave up too many second chance points in the first half,” Hillsboro Head Coach Nathan Hiebert said. “Late third and early fourth we finally started executing some things on our offense and had better movement. Unfortunately, it was way too late in the competition.”

Teegan Werth lead the Trojans with nine points in the game.

While the scoring was better, it was more of the same for Hillsboro against Larned. They struggled to get going offensively and ultimately got in too big of a hole to climb out of.

Coming- The girls played at Hoisington on Tuesday, Feb. 12. They play away at Lyons on Friday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.
