HILLSBORO- There was no question who the better Trojans were on Tuesday night when the Hillsboro Boys Basketball team shellacked Southeast of Saline, 60-36 to end the first half of the basketball season before Christmas break.

“It was an excellent team effort. Our intensity defensively frustrated Southeast all night and we moved the ball well offensively. Among several excellent performances, Caleb Rempel played really well. He created several SE turnovers and had his best offensive performance this year. Darian (Ratzlaff) had a solid game on both ends of the floor. It was great to play so well on our home opener and our last game before the Christmas break,” said Coach Darrel Knoll.

Hillsboro took no time to jump on Southeast of Saline with a 17-6 run to open the game. They opened up the lead even further in the second quarter, ending the half with a 31-12 advantage.

The score ended up looking closer than it should have with Southeast of Saline coming on strong in the fourth quarter with 19 points once the contest was practically decided.

Ratzlaff led the team with an efficient 14 points and three rebounds, while Rempel had 12 points and two rebounds.

Coming – Hillsboro will play Halstead at home on Jan. 4. Their game will start after the girls game is concluded, starting at 6 p.m.
