Hillsboro had their way in a 66-22 drumming of Bluestem last Friday to move to 2-0 in district play this season.

Brooks Gardner led the team with 227 rushing yards and three touchdowns, one of which was an impressive 80-yard scamper to put the Trojans up 44-0 late in the second quarter. Hillsboro would close the half with a 44-6 lead.

Bluestem scored the opening touchdown of the second half to get within 44-14, but that is as close as the game would get as Jorge Hanschu hit Darian Ratzlaff on a 45-yard touchdown pass to close any idea that Bluestem had of a comeback.

Hillsboro would tie two more touchdowns on in the second half before Bluestem got a late score to make the final 66-22.

Hanschu went 8-13 for 140 yards passing and two touchdowns and an interception as quarterback with Ratzlaff being his favorite target on the evening, catching six passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

Jamari Harris rushed just five times for 97 yards and two touchdowns on the game to help Hillsboro gain an impressive 596 yards of offense for the game.

“Kids did a great job on Friday night. We are very excited to be at 2-0 in District play and be able to pay for District Champs against a tough Olpe team,” said Head Coach Devin Metzinger about the game.

Hillsboro hosts undefeated Olpe for a 7 p.m. Kickoff on Friday. Olpe beat Marion last week 54-0 and has only given up 38 points for the season thus far.
