HHS wrestling to honor alums and youth

Local wrestling fans are in for an unprecedented treat next Thursday, Feb. 11, when the Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro Middle School and Kids Club wrestling programs will host ?Trojan Wrestling: Past, Present and Future? at Brown Gymnasium.

The event will combine home duals for both the high school and middle school wrestling teams, with programs to honor people involved with Hillsboro wrestling since its inception.

At the conclusion of the first high school dual, the program will preview its future with the introduction of current Kids Wrestling Club members, age 4 to 14, before honoring its past with the introduction of former HHS wrestlers.

All former wrestlers in attendance will be recognized, and the wrestlers, state qualifiers and state placers of the five-year anniversary teams (2005, 2000 and 1995) will be individually honored.

Before the final high school dual of the evening, focus will shift back to the present with ?Senior Night? activities for the HHS team. Six senior wrestlers and their parents will be recognized for their contributions to the team this year and throughout their high school careers.

Following the competitions, the evening will conclude with a reception open to all former and current Hillsboro wrestlers and their families in the high school commons area.
