HHS volleyball 16-0 after sweep at Lyons

 

The Hillsboro volleyball team improved to 16-0 for the season with a pair of wins Sept. 23 at Lyons.

The Trojans, who were ranked No. 1 in Class 2A before being bumped to 3A late last week, knocked off the host team, 25-22, 25-7.

Alex Ratzlaff led the Trojan attack with 11 kills. Setters Shelley Arnold and Julie Sinclair combined for five and eight assists, respectively. Arnold added a team-high 10 digs.

Against Hoisington, the Trojans won the first set easily, 25-13, but had to battle to sweep the Cardinals in the second one, 25-23.

Ratzlaff delivered 15 kills in the game and served for five aces. Shannon Heiser led the team with seven digs on defense while Arnold and Sinclair each recorded seven assists on offense.

The wins improved Hillsboro?s league-leading record to 5-0 while Hoising?ton dropped to 3-2 in the league and 13-5 for the season.

Lyons? record is 2-3 and 4-13 after defeating Hoising?ton in the nightcap.

Coming?Hillsboro was schedule to hit the road again Sept. 30, making the long trip to Larned for a triangular with the home team (1-4, 5-16) and league challenger Sterling (4-1, 13-5).

Next Tuesday they travel to Nickerson to take on the Panthers (2-3, 6-12) and Smoky Valley ((3-2, 7-9) in a pair of Central Kansas League matchups.
