HHS tennis season comes to a close

Hillsboro’s tennis season ended Saturday in the first round of the Class 3-2-1A regional tournament in Hesston.

In singles, Dylan Wiens lost to William Weiner of Sterling, 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles team of Jacob Isaac and Dakota Klein lost 6-2, 6-2 to Riffel and Banks of Sterling.

“The guys have really improved this season,” coach Stuart Holmes said. “Dylan won his first match of his career this year, while Jacob and Dakota were getting more competitive all the time. They not only won three matches, but were in more rallies and were closer to being at the varsity level.”

CKL tournament—The Trojans came away without a win at the Central Kansas League tournament May 2 at Pratt.

In No. 1 doubles, Jacob Isaac and Dakota lost 9-5 to Krehbiel and Hepner of Kingman, 9-2 to Kauffman and Wells of Haven and 9-1 to Thomson and Orth of Larned.

In No. 1 singles, Dylan Wiens lost 9-1 to both Caden Nachtigal of Haven and Jacob Satterlee of Hoising­ton, and 9-0 to David Loomis of Pratt.
