HHS leaves imprint on state records

As the Kansas State High School Activities Association marks its 100th year of state basketball, Hillsboro High School is represented among the record of all-time great tournament performances.

Among Individual performances, Craig Duerksen still holds the all-time record (all classes) for most three-point baskets in a single game?10 against Berean Academy in 1992?and most three-pointers in a single tournament?17 in 1992.

Hillsboro, coached by Darrel Knoll, won that game, 77-59, in the semifinals before losing in the finals to Holcomb, 57-53.

Hillsboro boys also hold the Class 3A record for most points scored in a single game with 95 in 1996 against Wabaunsee-Alma, who scored 76. The combined score of the two teams?171 points?stands as the most points by two teams in a single tournament game in Class 3A.

Hillsboro girls are tied with six other teams for 21st on the list of most state appearances with 14. This year?s appearance was Hillsboro?s 15th. ?Don Ratzlaff
