HHS golfers done at 2A regionals

Hillsboro golfer Phillip Ediger putts at Hole 5 during the Cental Kansas League tournament at Hillsboro. He placed 40th with a score of 102.The Hillsboro golf season ended by one stroke Monday at the Class 2A regional tournament in Belleville.

The Trojans? top golfer, senior Evan Ollenburger, missed qualifying for state by a single stroke. He carded a 97 over 18 holes at the Belleville Country Club to finish in a tie for 11th.

The top 10 finishers will advance to state next week.

Junior Phillip Ediger placed 21st in the field of 33 golfers at 108 and freshman Dalke tied for 22nd at 109.

Alex Carr of Remington took medalist honors with an 86.

League?Even with a home course advantage, Hillsboro golf team members finished among the middle to lower echelon at the Central Kan?sas League tournament last Tuesday.

Evan Ollenburger led the Trojans with a score of 91 over 18 holes, placing him 22nd in a field of 55 golfers. Ten schools competed, including Hoisington and Larned, who will officially join the league next season.

Meanwhile, Phillip Ediger placed 40th at 102 and Alex Dalke shot a 118 for 52nd place.

Colton Massey of Larned won medalist honors with a score of 70, edging Matt Thayne of Hesston by one stroke.

With only three golfers on the team roster, Hillsboro was the only school that did not have the four players needed to qualify for a team score.

Hesston won the team title with a score of 319, edging Larned by four strokes.
