The duo opened with a , then win over Collins and Reh of Ellinwood, then lost to Karst and Kuhn of Victoria.

Playing on the backside of the bracket, the Trojan twosome defeated Ibarra and Bergren of Greeley County, then lost to Osner and Mies of Conway Springs.

“Cheyenne and Kyla have played No. 1 doubles together since the start of the season,” said first-year coach Erin Hein.

Bernhardt, a junior, started the season with no prior tennis experience.

“She is athletic and was able to pick up tennis quickly,” Hein said.

Isaac, a freshmen, started this year with tennis experience.

“One of the biggest keys to success with Cheyenne and Kyla was their ability to communicate on the court and have fun,” Hein said.

“Taking a doubles team to the state tournament this year was a great way to end my first year of coaching tennis,” she added.

“I am looking forward to next year and continuing to build the tennis program.”
