HHS 10th at state golf tourney

The Hillsboro golf team placed 10th among the 12 teams competing at the Class 2A state golf tournament at Belleville May 23.

The Trojans compiled a team score of 409. Sacred Heart won the title with a 310 score. Grant Herrenbruck of Sacred Heart won the individual title with a 74.

Also competing for Hillsboro was Elliot Ollenburger (100), Carson Herbel (104) and Colin Settle (106).

“Although we are disappointed in not performing better at the state tournament, I am very proud of these guys for the tremendous improvement they made throughout the season,” coach Scott O’Hare said.

“This experience of playing in the state meet will be extremely beneficial heading into next season,” he added. “If these guys continue to play in the off-season and get more on-course experience, they will do nothing but get better.”

With all four golfers returning, O’Hare said he is excited about next season, “particularly if we can add a couple more players to the team.”
