Herzet signs to throw at Bethany

Marion High School senior Kristen Herzet signed a letter of intent Tuesday to join the track and field team at Bethany College in the fall. Herzet placed fifth in the discus at the state track meet a year ago with a then-personal-best 119 feet, 3 inches. She is ranked among the top three in the state this year in that event. Her best marks in the throwing events are: 130-8 in the discus, 127-2 in the javelin and 34-61⁄2 in the shot put. Seated with Herzet are her parents Jeff and Dee Herzet.
