Gordon, Hett, Harper feted for HOA play

Marion boys and girls combined for three Heart of Ameri?ca all-league performers for 2011-12. All three received first-team honors.

Senior Whitney Gordon, who averaged 11-plus points and rebounds this season, represented the Warrior girls? team, which finished 2-7 in the league and 3-18 overall.

The Warrior boys, who finished 3-7 and 11-10 for the season, were one of only two teams that had two first-team picks.

Jordan Hett, a 6-0 junior, averaged 15.5 points while shooting 40 percent from the field and 79 percent from the line. He averaged 3.3 rebounds.

Jacob Harper, a 6-foot-2 junior, led the Warriors in scoring at 16.1 points per contest, including 40 percent shooting from 3-point range and 75 percent accuracy from the free-throw line. Harper also averaged seven rebounds per contest.

Sunday?s Wichita Eagle included both players on its Class 3A all-state team. Hett was named to the second team and Harper received honorable mention.

Berean?s league champion girls? team (22-1) was represented by five players. Canton-Galva was the only school that did not have a player recognized. Both Eagle teams finished 0-9 in the league; the girls went 0-21 overall and the boys 2-19.
