Goessel captures HOA golf title

Goessel is the Heart of America golf champion.

Goessel took first in the Heart of America golf tournament May 11, scoring 346 as a team.

Hutch Trinity was second and Sedgwick placed third with score of 350.

Remington (377), Peabody (386), Inman (394) and Bennington (400) rounded Goessel had four golfers finish in the top 10, led by Hayden Goerzen. He finished third overall shooting a 86.

Neal Brubaker placed fourth and Shane Goerzen took fifth, each shooting 86.

Tyler Schmidt gave Goessel four golfers in the top 10, finishing eighth with a 88.

Peabody-Burns top finishers were Jason Wingert and Jacob Gillet. Wingert placed 15th and Gillet 16th. Each shot a 94.

Goessel and Peabody-Burns competed in the 2A golf regional at Herington Country Club Monday.

Results were not available at press time.

The Class 2A state tournament will be next Monday at the Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg.
