Four Trojans, two Warriors chosen for league volleyball recognition

Hillsboro and Marion combined to place six players on the 2008 Mid-Central Activities Association all-league volleyball team, released on Friday.

The Trojans, who finished in a three-way two for second place in the league with Hesston and Collegiate at 8-3 and were 27-12 overall, we led by junior outside hitter Dakota Kaufman, one of two unanimous selections for the first team.

Dominque Chew, Hesston sophomore, was the other unanimous pick.

Candace Weinbrenner, Hillsboro junior setter, was a second-team selection and seniors Kassidi Luthi, middle hitter, and Tiffany Rooker, libero, received honorable mention.

For the Warriors, who placed 10th in the league at 3-8 and were 13-22 overall, junior outside hitter Julia Zeiner was selected for the first team. Classmate Lindsay Hett, a setter and hitter, received honorable mention.

Nickerson (24-14), who claimed the league championship this fall with a 9-2 record, had three players recognized?one each on the first team, second team and honorable men??tion list.
