Five HWC wrestlers qualify for state

Five of the six members of the Hillsboro Wrestling Club who participated Saturday in the USA Wrest­ling Kansas District 3 Cham­pionship Tournament in Junction City qualified for the state tournament by finishing among the top four in their respective divisions.

Sutton Redger won the 8 & Under (110 pounds) division with a 3-0 record.

Camden Padgett won the 12 & Under (84 pounds) division with a 2-0 record.

Connor Padgett won the 12 & Under (110 pounds) division with a 2-0 record.

Tristan Rathbone placed third in the 12 & Under division (120 pounds) with a 3-1 record.

Travis King placed fourth in the 145-pound high school division with a 2-2 record.

Also competing was Jordan Bachman, who placed sixth in the 12 & under (115 pounds) division.

The USA Wrestling Kan­sas Kids State Champion­­ships will be at the Topeka Expocentre next Saturday and Sunday.

The state tournament brackets will consist of 16 wrestlers—the top four finishers in each of four district tournaments.
