Devin Dick fifth at Class 3A regionals; qualifies for 4th state golf tournament

Hillsboro senior Devin Dick qualified for the Class 3A state golf tournament by placing fifth at the regional tournament Monday at the Osage City Country Club near Osage City.

The state golf tournament will be next Monday, May 21, at Sugar Hills Country Club in Goodland. This will be Dick?s fourth consecutive trip.

?I am happy for Devin to medal in both the (league) and regional tournaments,? coach Scott O?Hare said. ?He has been a solid player for us throughout high school and is starting to shoot some of his best scores here lately.

?I am excited to see him compete once again at state. Hope?fully he can put it all together and bring home a medal.?

At Osage City, Evan Ollenburger shot a 93?one stroke from qualifying for state?Kyler Borg a 101 and Casie Allen a 129 for team total of 407, which placed Hillsboro fifth.

Osage City won the title in a tie-breaker with Eureka with a score of 355. Council Grove followed with a 362, Burlington with a 37. After Hillsboro came West Franklin at 466 and Marion at 475.

?I am proud of all of these guys for the time and efforts that they put in this year,? O?Hare said. ?They all worked hard to improve and they did get better throughout the season.

?I feel bad for Kyler and Casie, as seniors, not having it pay off. But this is a game they can enjoy the rest of their lives.?
