Goessel

?The Bluebirds won six medals in the 2-mile races at Clearwater Thursday.

Laird Goertzen led the boys team to the line, placing fifth with a 2-mile time of 11:59. He was followed by Jared Reimer (12:06, 12th), Lars Osland (12:27, 14th), Derek Kruger (12:46, 31st) and Anthony Esau (13:16, 45th).

The girls were led by Kristen Hoffman (14:17, eighth). Shanna Klassen (15:14, 26th), Lindsey Wedel (15:32, 27th), Sara Boman (16:45, 37th) and Mareike Joppien (16:22, 41st) followed.

Up next for Goessel is the first week of 4- and 5-kilometer races at Hesston Thursday.

Canton-Galva

?The Eagle boys team placed fifth out of seven teams at Lincoln with 68 points.

Justin Hiller led Canton-Galva to the line, placing 17th in 22:52.

Jesse Evans finished on Hiller?s heels (18th, 22:55), with Tad Wedel (20th, 23:06), Sam Janzen (21st, 23:06), Nathan Bray (22nd, 23:14), Curtis Evans (33rd, 24:15) and Codey Johnson (45th, 25:41) right behind.

Lynn Volkman (44th, 21:31) and Victoria Rauch (46th, 23:22) are Canton-Galva?s only girls running this fall.

Up next for the Eagles is a Thursday afternoon visit to Hesston.
