Cross Country Roundup (Sept. 23, 2009)

Justin Hiller ran his best race to date in an Eagles uniform and led the Canton-Galva High School boys cross country team to the finish at their home meet Thursday.

?The time wasn?t his all time best, but this course is much harder than the course he set his PR on,? coach Lyle Silsby said.

Hiller placed third with a time of 19:44. Curtis Evans placed fifth with a time of 20:30, and Eli Janzen placed sixth with a time of 20:31.

?For Curtis this was a good run,? Silsby said. ?For Eli this was sensational. He beat Justin?s time from last years Canton-Galva meet by 48 seconds. Comparing freshman time to freshman time, he did great.?

Tad Wedel (15th, 21:32) improved his time by 46 seconds over last year. Nathan Bray (16th, 22:25), Sam Janzen (18th, 22:48) and Chris Coyle (27th, 27:04) also ran. For the girls Victoria Rauch finished 19th with a time of 28:12?her best time so far this year, according to Silsby.

Canton-Galva will run at Marion this week.
