CHS snags third at Ike Tourney

The Centre High School boys basketball team claimed third place in the Eisenhower league tournament with a 48-34 win over White City Saturday.

Behind 11 points apiece from Brian Burhoop and James Weber, the Cougars cultivated a 10-5 run to a 21-16 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the Centre 3-point shooting offense bloomed, and the outburst lifted the Cougars to a 39-26 edge to open the fourth quarter.

The Centre girls thrashed White City 51-25 to claim third on Saturday. A 44-38 loss to Wakefield kept the Cougars out of the championship game.

Leann Pankratz and Carlye Simons each scored 17 points.
