CHS snags third at Ike Tourney

The Centre High School boys basketball team claimed third place in the Eisenhower league tournament with a 48-34 win over White City Saturday.

Behind 11 points apiece from Brian Burhoop and James Weber, the Cougars cultivated a 10-5 run to a 21-16 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the Centre 3-point shooting offense bloomed, and the outburst lifted the Cougars to a 39-26 edge to open the fourth quarter.

Solomon edged Centre for a berth in the championship with a 69-44 win Friday. Troutt scored 18 points in the semifinal.

The Centre girls thrashed White City 51-25 to claim third on Saturday. A 44-38 loss to Wakefield kept the Cougars out of the championship game.

Leann Pankratz and Carlye Simons each scored 17 points.

Centre hosted Flint Hills Jan. 27 and will visit White City Friday. CHS travels to Solomon Tuesday.
