Centre takes 3rd at Cheney

Led by Tyler Klenda and Adam Matz, the Centre High School golf team placed fifth among 13 teams at the 1A state golf tournament May 26 at Cherry Oaks in Cheney.

Klenda and Matz both turned in rounds of 83, placing 16th and 17th individually.

Heath Hill (41st, 89), Jacob Jennings (55th, 97), Kacey Hanschu (76th, 105) and James Weber (78th, 107) also represented Centre.

Tim Spare of St. John won the individual state title with a score of 69 and led his school to the team title. The St. John foursome scored 322.

The Cougars? 4-man total of 352 also trailed Bushton (329), Frankfort (342), and Greensburg (345)?and placed just one stroke ahead of Hoxie (353).
