Centre set for Ike Tourney

The Centre High School girls basketball team thrashed Hope 50-23 Jan. 13. and upended Elyria 60-28 Jan. 9.

Against Hope, Leann Pankratz posted 20 points?18 in the first half?to power the Cougars to a 34-12 lead through two quarters.

Against Elyria, Pankratz and Carlye Simons scored 14 points apiece, and Shelby Deines added 12 as Centre rolled to 34-20 halftime lead.

Hope defeated the Centre boys 69-49.

The Cougars play in the Eisenhower League tournament at Wakefield this week.

The Cougar girls faced Elyria Tuesday and will face Wakefield at 6 p.m. Friday. The boys faced Elyria Monday and will face Solomon at 7 p.m. Friday.

The championship round will be played Saturday. The second-seeded girls will play for either third or fifth at 1 p.m., or for the championship at 4 p.m.

The boys will play for third or fifth at 2:30, or will play for the championship at 5:30.
