Centre vs. Canton-Galva?The Cougars trailed 12-8 after the first quarter, but outscored the Eagles 40-12 in the final three quarters of a 48-24 victory. Centre improved to 2-0 on the year.
The Cougars fumbled five times, losing four of them and allowed three big-play touchdowns to Canton-Galva.
?We had too many turnovers,? coach Kelly Steiner said. ?We can?t have that against Hope?they?re too good of a football team to make mistakes against.?
Bryant Baldwin and Nick Vogts scored on runs of 53 and 44 yards, respectively, just 3:18 apart in the first quarter. Centre later allowed Baldwin to score on a 37-yard run.
But when the Cougars played with leverage, they contained the Eagles offense. On the offensive side of the ball, Centre paved the way for Tanner Brunner to score five rushing touchdowns.
Brunner also completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Zack Antoszyk, and ran for five 2-point conversions.
He totaled 288 rushing yards on 27 carries along with 75 passing yards.
Up next, Canton-Galva visits Pretty Prairie and Centre hosts Hope for homecoming.

Peabody-Burns was shut out by Inman 23-0 at home and will play at Remington Friday.
